Social Media Strategist
Location: Richmond, VA | Full-Time

Hybrid Work Structure: Monday/Friday Remote, Tuesday-Thursday Onsite

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Social Media Strategist to lead the execution, optimization, and growth of their social media presence. This is a highly collaborative, hands‑on role that also includes building and managing a small social team over time. The ideal candidate is both a doer and a leader, someone who can execute content at a high level while also stepping back to guide strategy, manage people, and scale the function as the brand grows.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Content Execution

Manage day‑to‑day execution of social channels, including Instagram/Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn

Create, schedule, and publish organic content across feed, Stories, and short‑form video formats

Partner with creative and marketing teams to produce compelling visuals, Reels, and video content

Maintain and execute a social content calendar aligned with product launches, campaigns, and seasonal moments

Write clear, engaging, on‑brand copy tailored to each platform

Capture and create content as needed, including real‑time and trend‑driven moments

Influencer, Creator & Social Commerce

Support and help execute the brand’s influencer and creator strategy

Build and manage relationships with creators through outreach, gifting, and ongoing communication

Coordinate influencer campaigns and track deliverables

Support affiliate and social commerce initiatives (Instagram Shop, TikTok Shop, LTK, etc.)

Monitor performance and identify creators and content that drive engagement and conversion

Community Growth & Engagement

Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, tags, and brand mentions to foster an engaged community

Identify and elevate user‑generated content, creators, and brand advocates

Execute giveaways, contests, and community activations

Stay current on platform trends, algorithm updates, and emerging formats to inform content decisions

Reporting & Performance Optimization

Track, analyze, and report on social media performance, providing actionable insights

Use analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, TikTok Insights, Google Analytics, etc.) to refine content strategy

Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities to improve engagement, reach, and conversion

Contribute to ongoing development of social strategy based on performance data

Team Leadership & Growth

Hire, onboard, and manage social media team members as the function scales

Provide direction, feedback, and development to direct reports

Help define team structure, workflows, and processes to support growth

Balance hands‑on execution with effective delegation over time

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with marketing, creative, and eCommerce teams to align social with broader campaigns

Collaborate with customer experience teams to ensure consistent brand voice across all touchpoints

Support integrated marketing initiatives where social plays a key role

Qualifications

4–6+ years of experience in social media management and content execution

Experience with DTC, lifestyle, or consumer brands preferred

Prior experience mentoring or managing team members (or strong readiness to step into management)

Strong understanding of social platforms and best practices

Hands‑on experience creating content (photo/video) and using editing tools (CapCut, Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.)

Experience working with influencers, creators, or affiliate programs

Familiarity with social scheduling and analytics tools (Sprout, Later, Dash Hudson, etc.)

Ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into action

Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
