The Role

Are you an experienced Catholic musician who understands the traditions, liturgy, and music of the Roman Catholic Church? Do you have the ability to lead a choir, inspire congregational singing, and create a meaningful worship experience through music?

Community Chapel is seeking a dedicated

Catholic Music Director

to oversee and lead the Catholic music ministry. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled musician who enjoys supporting worship through music while working closely with clergy, volunteers, and the congregation.

As our

Catholic Music Director , you will plan, organize, and lead music for weekly Catholic services, Holy Days of Obligation, funerals, sacramental celebrations, and other special worship events. You will direct choir rehearsals, coordinate music selections, and ensure all musical elements support the liturgy and enhance the worship experience.

The

Catholic Music Director

will also recruit and support volunteer singers and musicians while maintaining a high-quality music program that aligns with Catholic liturgical guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and direct choir rehearsals and performances
• Coordinate music selections with the Catholic Chaplain or presiding priest
• Lead congregational singing during services
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer choir members and musicians
• Schedule and organize weekly rehearsals
• Provide sheet music in advance of rehearsals
• Ensure audio/visual equipment is properly set up and tested
• Maintain attendance records and music program documentation
• Support special services including Holy Week, Christmas, funerals, confirmations, and First Holy Communion celebrations
• Monitor music equipment and communicate any maintenance needs

The Person:

At least two years of continuous experience directing music in a Catholic church or chapel
Strong knowledge of Catholic liturgy and worship traditions
Experience leading choirs and congregational singing
Ability to read music and teach vocal harmony
Knowledge of traditional, liturgical, Latin, and contemporary Catholic music
Excellent organizational and communication skills
A reference from a Catholic priest or music director
A commitment to maintaining high standards of worship music
