Production Artist

ARTISAN · New York, NY, USA · Remote ·

Pay:
$35-$50/hr
Job type:
Temporary

A beloved home fragrance and personal care brand is looking for two Production Artists to join its in-house art department in Huntington Beach, CA. This is a temp-to-perm, full-time opportunity with a team that produces packaging and product visuals across candles, fragrance, body care, home cleaning, and pet products sold in the U.S., UK, Australia, and Canada. If you’re the kind of artist who finds satisfaction in a flawless mask, a photoreal mockup, and a perfectly built mechanical file, this role was made for you.

This is not a typical Graphic Designer seat. Roughly 80% of the work is building product mockups in Photoshop — making flat art look dimensional and real — with final art files executed in Illustrator. You’ll take briefs from a group of Art Directors and turn them around quickly and accurately, working from established templates and brand systems. You need a creative eye, but the job rewards speed, precision, and production craft over concepting.

You Will:

Build photorealistic product mockups in Photoshop, including masking, compositing, and retouching to make 2D art read as 3D packaging

Prepare final, production‑ready art files in Illustrator

Take direction from multiple Art Directors who brief into the production team

Work across a wide product range: candles, fragrance, room diffusers, body scrubs and lotions, laundry and cleaning products, and pet products

Collaborate daily with a tight‑knit five‑person production team that divides and shares work

You Have:

2+ years of professional experience as a Production Artist, Production Designer, Graphic Designer or in a production‑heavy design role

Expert‑level Photoshop skills — masks, mockups, and retouching are the core of this job

Strong Illustrator skills for final art file creation; InDesign proficiency

A portfolio showing 3D product mockups — packaging for candles, fragrance, soap, beauty, home goods, or other CPG is a major plus

Comfort working quickly from templates and briefs, with the accuracy and attention to detail production work demands

The temperament for production: you enjoy execution and craft, not just concepting

Logistics:
