Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities on a daily basis. This includes labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower management. People management responsibilities encompass hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisals, issue resolution, and problem solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly activities, plan, and assure continuous improvement.

Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations.

Ensure development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies.

Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals; comply with client agreements.

Implement and report on ongoing cost savings measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations.

Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.

Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to supervise, counsel, and discipline team members fairly and equitably.

Provide direction and support to Human Resources; assist in hiring, training, and professional development programs.

Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities for warehouse staff.

Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assess priorities and assign duties to appropriate staff.

Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space, and adjust staffing levels as needed.

Train new staff, delegate training responsibility, and assess progress; add additional duties as appropriate.

Keep informed of quantity and quality of jobs performed throughout the day, providing guidance and advice as necessary.

Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members as leads for lower‑level staff; keep abreast of progress or problems.

Keep manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis; hold regular meetings with staff, discuss improvement ideas, and keep staff informed of new developments.

Assist in physical operations as needed.

Deliver results by leveraging skills of the right people at the right time.

Maintain a high degree of motivation in team members to retain focus on providing the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.

Input and conduct annual performance reviews for team members.

Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train team members on corporate and client SOPs.

Safety

Achieve company goals for injury frequency ratings and other safety metrics by establishing a proactive and participative safety culture.

Audit warehouse daily for compliance with safety, security, and quality principles and rules.

Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area; adhere to all federal, provincial, or statutory health and safety requirements.

Other Duties

Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Performs other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise warehouse associates and team leads.

Communicate problems and questions to manager.

Assist the operations/general manager as needed.

Follow all safety procedures at all times.

Responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents, and materials related to the job.

Responsible for following all DSV policies and procedures.

Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Minimum Required Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

3 years of experience in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment.

1 year of experience in a supervisory role.

Ability to operate MHE.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Experience with RF scanners.

Knowledge of WMS functions.

Language Skills

English (reading, writing, verbal).

Business communication.

Mathematical Skills

Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities, count inventory, or perform other handling tasks.

Other

Strong attention to detail and accuracy; accomplish job tasks in a timely manner.

Good organizational and personnel skills.

Good communication skills, written and oral.

Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills.

Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Some college education.

2‑4 years of experience in a supervisory role.

2‑4 years of forklift experience.

Current or prior MHE certification.

Physical Demands
Requires use of hands to handle objects, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch; may lift up to 40 lbs. Must stand on feet for up to 8 hours per day. Uses computer and telephone equipment.

Work Environment
Rare exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise levels usually low to moderate.

Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $85,000 – $95,000 per year. Actual compensation determined based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Eligible for a performance‑based bonus program.
