Job Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising labor management and planning of inbound and outbound operations, product slotting, customer communication, labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower. Duties include hiring, training, performance appraisals, and resolving performance issues. Managing receiving, warehousing and shipping of product in accordance with service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities and assure continuous improvement.

Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting operations.

Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner.

Implement cost‑saving measures and suggest ways to improve efficiency.

Meet client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.

Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, supervise and counsel team members, and discipline as needed.

Assist HR with hiring, training, and professional development programs.

Train and evaluate warehouse staff.

Plan daily work schedule based on work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.

Check job status, space requirements, and staffing needs to keep operations on track.

Train new staff, assess progress, and assign additional duties as appropriate.

Monitor quantity and quality of work and provide guidance.

Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower‑level staff.

Keep the manager advised of progress, problems, and corrective actions.

Hold regular meetings with staff to assess group status and discuss improvement ideas.

Assist in physical operations as needed.

Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time.

Maintain team motivation to provide highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.

Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Other Duties

Willing to work evenings and weekends as required.

Perform any other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise warehouse associates and team leads.

Communicate all problems and questions to manager.

Assist the operations/general manager as needed.

Follow all safety procedures at all times.

Be responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents, and materials related to the job.

Follow all DSV policies and procedures.

Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Minimum Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

At least 3 years’ experience in a logistics or distribution environment.

At least 1 year of supervisory experience.

Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE).

Completion of a forklift training program.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with WMS functions.

Basic to intermediate mathematical skills.

English speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Strong attention to detail, organizational and personnel skills, good communication and leadership skills.

Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.

Adaptability to change and ability to work in a fast‑pace environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Some college education.

2–4 years’ supervisory experience.

2–4 years forklift experience.

Current or prior MHE certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Using hands to handle objects, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, speaking, hearing, and operating computer and telephone equipment. Must lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for up to 8 hours per day. Work environment is low to moderate noise and minimal exposure to chemicals.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range: $85,000 – $95,000 per year. The position is eligible for a performance‑based bonus program.
