Position Summary
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. The role involves planning inbound/outbound volume, customer communication, space utilization & management, equipment management, hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies.

Manage operations to meet productivity and service goals, complying with client SLAs.

Drive continuous improvement efforts and propose cost‑saving measures.

Meet client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.

Apply sound communication and motivational techniques; supervise fairly and equitably, counsel and discipline team members as needed.

Collaborate with Human Resources; support hiring, training, professional development; assist in performance evaluation.

Deliver results by leveraging appropriate staff at the right time.

Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.

Plan daily work schedule by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions; prioritize tasks; assign duties.

Review volume demands to plan warehouse space reorganization and adjust supplies, equipment, staffing.

Management Information Systems

Ensure team members are trained and efficient on required information systems, including WMS.

Ensure necessary computer software and hardware are purchased under Corporate IT policies.

Stay knowledgeable about hardware/software technology updates.

Develop proficiency in client systems.

Customer Management

Maintain high‑level customer service standards.

Provide operational and administrative support to client accounts.

Maintain contact with all functions and respond to requests.

Attend or lead meetings with key customers to discuss issues.

Coordinate supplier/customer visits to the site.

Promote positive client relationships through excellent service.

Budgeting & Financials

Support development of annual operating budget.

Develop and manage control systems to meet cost, revenue, and profit targets.

Assist with compliance of budgeting/pricing activities with contract guidelines.

Equipment & Facilities

Maintain company standards for sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment (MHE).

Ensure team trained on MHE.

Stay informed of new technology and recommend where applicable.

Safety

Achieve injury frequency rate (IFR) and safety metrics by establishing a proactive culture.

Audit warehouse for compliance with safety, security, quality rules.

Ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and statutory requirements.

Other Duties

Work overtime as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.

Skills & Abilities
Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED (mandatory).

Bachelor's degree preferred.

7 years of logistics/distribution/relevant experience.

5 years supervisory experience.

Ability to work in unregulated temperatures (mild to moderate).

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Proficiency in applicable WMS systems.

Language Skills

English (reading, writing, verbal); business communication proficiency.

Other

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timely task accomplishment.

Good organizational, personnel, communication, leadership, supervision, planning skills.

Ability to work flexible schedules, nights, weekends.

Participate in cross‑training metrics activities.

Adapt to change and thrive in fast‑paced environment.

Physical Demands

Handling/Fingering, Sitting – occasionally.

Bending – frequently.

Walking/Standing – constantly.

Lift 21‑50 pounds (reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, kneel).

Work Environment
The work conducted is rarely exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals; noise level is low to moderate.

Compensation: $95,000.00 – $98,000.00 base pay plus benefits.
