Position Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping of products, ensuring service and cost objectives are met. Responsibilities also encompass planning inbound and outbound volume, customer communication, space utilization, equipment management, hiring, training, labour planning, performance appraisals, and problem resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain systems and procedures for safe, profitable management of operations, equipment, and products, in line with company policies.
Manage operations to meet productivity and service goals, complying with client SLAs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for cost savings and efficiency.
Meet client‑specified KPI’s and comply with quality system requirements.
Lead the operations team, applying sound communication, motivation, and fair supervisory practices.
Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, training, professional development, and performance evaluation.
Deliver results by effectively leveraging team skills.
Communicate critical issues to senior management and client representatives.
Plan daily work schedules, reviewing work orders and customer instructions.
Assess volume demands to reorganize warehouse space and staffing.
Ensure effective training and SOP adherence.
Maintain high motivation and provide growth opportunities for staff.
Support SOP compliance through routine staff meetings.
Management Information Systems

Ensure team members are trained and efficient in required information systems, including WMS, to meet objectives.
Procure necessary computer software and hardware in accordance with Corporate IT policies.
Stay knowledgeable on hardware and software changes.
Develop proficiency in client systems.
Customer Management

Maintain high customer service standards.
Ensure client accounts receive required operational and administrative support.
Maintain contact with all functions and respond to requests.
Lead meetings with key customers to discuss issues.
Coordinate management of supplier/customer visits.
Promote positive client relationships.
Budgeting and Financials

Support development of an annual operating budget.
Manage controls to meet service and operational goals within cost, revenue, and profit parameters.
Assist with budgeting and pricing compliance with contract guidelines.
Equipment and Facilities

Maintain sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment standards.
Train team members on material handling equipment (MHE).
Evaluate new technology and make recommendations.
Safety

Achieve company injury frequency ratings and safety metrics.
Audit warehouse for compliance with safety, security, and quality rules.
Ensure adherence to statutory health and safety requirements.
Other Duties

Work overtime as required by business needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
Skills & Abilities

Strong attention to detail; accurate execution.
Good organizational, personnel, communication, leadership, supervision, and planning skills.
Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
Adaptability to change in fast‑paced environment.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s preferred.
7 years in logistics/distribution or related environment.
5 years supervisory experience.
Ability to work in regulated temperatures; tolerate mild to moderate temperature variations.
Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of WMS systems.
Language Skills

English reading, writing, speaking; business communication proficiency.
Physical Demands

Occasional handling, sitting, bending, walking, standing; ability to lift 21-50 pounds, reach, squat, kneel.
Compensation

The expected base pay range is $95,000.00 – $105,000.00, with actual compensation based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
