The Digital Media and Marketing Specialist supports Hawaii Community College’s Office of Communications and Marketing through photography, videography, graphic design, social media, digital storytelling, and marketing content creation. This position helps promote college programs, services, events, and initiatives through engaging and professional digital and print communications.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and quick turnaround times while maintaining professionalism and high-quality work.

Duties & Responsibilities

Design and produce marketing and communications materials including flyers, brochures, posters, advertisements, and social media graphics.

Shoot and edit professional-quality photography and video for social media, web, advertising, and promotional campaigns.

Create short-form and long-form video content including interviews, commercials, event highlights, and promotional storytelling.

Develop engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other digital platforms.

Help maintain consistent Hawaii CC branding, messaging, and visual identity.

Coordinate with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to support communications and marketing projects.

Write and edit captions, promotional copy, scripts, and related content.

Cover campus and community events through photography, videography, and real-time content creation.

Organize and manage digital media files and assets.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Creative Media, Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, or related field and one year of professional experience in digital media, photography, videography, communications, marketing, or related field; or equivalent education/training and experience.

Experience shooting and editing photography and video for social media, web, advertising, and promotional use.

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Final Cut Pro, or similar software.

Experience creating graphics and visual content for digital and print platforms.

Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital content best practices.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with quick turnaround times.

Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Demonstrates initiative, creativity, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

Takes pride in producing professional, polished, and on‑brand content.

Must be responsible, trustworthy, have a positive attitude, good communication skills, able to take direction well, and a good work ethic.

Ability to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.

Desired Qualifications

Experience producing larger-scale promotional or storytelling video projects.

Experience with DSLR or mirrorless cameras and professional photography equipment.

Experience with motion graphics, animation, or advanced video editing.

Experience working in higher education, nonprofit, media, or community-focused organizations.

Understanding of branding, marketing strategy, and audience engagement principles.
