Commercial Manager

Position Summary

Virginia Transformer Corp. is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to oversee commercial operations, contract administration, claims management, risk mitigation, and business support activities across a growing manufacturing organization.
The Commercial Manager will serve as a key business partner to sales, operations, finance, legal, project management, and executive leadership teams. This individual will be responsible for managing customer and vendor contracts, resolving commercial disputes, overseeing insurance and warranty claims, administering leases and commercial agreements, and protecting the company's contractual and financial interests.
The ideal candidate will bring 15-25+ years of experience in commercial management, business management, contract administration, legal operations, risk management, or related commercial leadership functions within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, construction, energy, or infrastructure industries.
Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Contract Management

Review, negotiate, and administer customer, supplier, subcontractor, and service agreements.
Support commercial terms and conditions during contract negotiations.
Identify and mitigate contractual, operational, and financial risks.
Maintain oversight of contract compliance and obligations.
Partner with legal counsel on complex commercial matters and dispute resolution.
Manage commercial disputes involving customers, suppliers, contractors, and third parties.
Lead investigation and resolution of warranty, damage, insurance, and contractual claims.
Coordinate with insurance carriers, brokers, adjusters, and legal counsel regarding claims management.
Support litigation avoidance through proactive commercial risk management.
Lease & Asset Administration

Manage commercial leases, property agreements, easements, and related contractual obligations.
Track critical dates, renewals, compliance requirements, and financial commitments.
Support facility and asset-related commercial activities as needed.
Business Operations Support

Partner with operations, project management, procurement, and sales teams on commercial strategy and execution.
Provide guidance regarding contractual obligations, change orders, pricing adjustments, and risk exposure.
Support executive leadership with commercial reporting, negotiations, and business initiatives.
Monitor commercial risks across active projects and business operations.
Assist with insurance renewals, claims tracking, and risk mitigation strategies.
Develop policies and procedures that strengthen commercial governance and compliance.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
15-25+ years of experience in commercial management, business management, contract administration, legal operations, claims management, or risk management.
Strong experience managing customer and vendor contracts.
Experience handling commercial disputes and contract negotiations.
Experience working with insurance claims, risk management, and liability matters.
Knowledge of lease administration and commercial agreements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
Strong business judgment and ability to work across multiple functional areas.
