Responsibilities
Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
Utilize computer-aided design equipment/graphic tools such as CAD, CAM or CATIA.
Gather information, perform studies, compute calculations and prepare rough layouts, sketches to present design proposals.
Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture, material availability, and compliance with contractual specifications.
Qualifications
Must have: High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of experience; OR Associates degree or other 2‑year technical degree in a related discipline and 1 year experience.
Nice to have: Familiarity with interior communication or power distribution systems on U.S. Navy ships and an understanding of ship design and blueprint reading.
