Position Overview
As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will focus primarily on new installations of cable television and broadband services. You will operate a company van, enter customer homes, and represent Mediacom to our customers.

Position Responsibilities

Complete drop installations, both exterior and interior, for single and multi‑unit dwellings.

Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects, and outlet additions; install or remove converters.

Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of delivered picture after cable installation.

Use hand tools and soldering equipment to complete job functions.

Read signal levels with a field‑strength meter and make necessary adjustments.

Mount on poles, ladders, or other structures using proper safety equipment.

Lift and carry up to 100 lbs.; work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces.

Operate VOM or DMM to check for open or short circuits and verify AC/​DC voltages.

Read drop‑system blueprints.

Explain FCC rules and company policies to customers.

Drive company vehicles, maintain uptime, and perform vehicle upkeep.

Generate additional revenue through effective sales techniques and product promotions.

Assist with cleanup, salvage, and general support of other employees as directed.

Adhere to applicable codes, company procedures, and safe work practices to provide an outstanding customer experience.

Position Requirements

No prior experience required.

High school diploma or GED.

Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Basic mechanical and consumer‑device knowledge.

Good communication skills with customers and co‑workers.

Ability to work in high or tight spaces.

Capacity to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.

Flexibility for evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime hours.

Physical Requirements

Frequent handling of heavy objects (approximately 50‑100 lbs.) and heavy hand tools.
