Semantic Layer Architect

Job Description

Design and implement an enterprise semantic layer (Gold Layer) on Databricks to support scalable BI, analytics, and AI use cases

Build and maintain business-friendly data models and ontologies that standardize definitions across the organization

Define relationships, hierarchies, and reusable metrics to enable consistent reporting and data consumption

Abstract complex data logic into semantic models consumable by Power BI, AI tools, and business users

Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure proper Bronze/Silver/Gold layer alignment and data quality standards

Enable AI/ML initiatives by structuring data in a way that supports feature engineering and model training

Work with stakeholders to translate business logic into consistent and governed data definitions

Leverage tools like Databricks Genie (preferred) or similar semantic modeling platforms

Skills and Requirements

6–10+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or semantic layer development

Expertise in dimensional modeling (star/snowflake), data warehousing concepts, and metadata management

Strong experience with Databricks, Spark, or modern data platforms

Experience building semantic layers for Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools

Understanding of AI/ML workflows and data preparation for modeling

Strong ability to bridge technical and business concepts
