Position Overview
RELATIONSHIP/TRUST ADVISOR, WEALTH MANAGEMENT (OH) – R157162. This role is part of a Private Client Advisory team and is responsible for managing complex wealth management relationships with high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients, delivering fiduciary and administrative services.
Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of wealth management clients, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure timely delivery of services and issue resolution.
Lead client conversations, provide proactive advice on products, emerging issues, regulatory and tax changes, and recommend solutions.
Explain complex concepts to clients using clear, non-technical language.
Maintain knowledge of fiduciary standards and apply fiduciary judgment to client relationships.
Identify and cultivate new business opportunities and relationships with referral sources and external advisors.
Participate in community and professional organizations and represent Northern Trust.
Mentor less experienced partners and lead fiduciary projects and committees.
Implement complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and ambiguous issues.
Travel as necessary to meet clients for servicing or business development.
Qualifications
7-10 years of experience as a relationship manager in trust administration, estate administration, estate planning or related fields.
Experience managing high net worth and ultra-high net worth client portfolios with assets under management in the million-to-billion range.
Strong knowledge of fiduciary duties, trust and tax law, estate planning, financial planning, asset management and investment principles.
Formal education or related experience in investments, tax, law and operations.
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, delegation, leadership and sales skills.
Professional designations such as JD, CFP, CPWA highly desirable.
Leadership and organizational skills for team management.
Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
Salary & Benefits
Salary range: $114,500–$194,700 USD (base pay). Comprehensive benefits include retirement (401(k) and pension), health and welfare (medical, dental, vision, spending and disability accounts), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life and accident insurance, and a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
