Job Description

An employer is looking for a TSSCI Public Affairs Specialist to sit at Fort Meade. This individual will support a high-intensity cyber operations environment, acting as a key public affairs resource to ensure accurate and strategic communication across the command. On a daily basis, they will monitor ongoing cyber operations, current events, and media coverage to assess potential public affairs impacts and proactively develop messaging, including Public Affairs Guidance (PAG), talking points, and leadership updates. They will work closely with the Communications Director, Public Affairs Officer, and operational teams to anticipate how cyber activities may be perceived externally and ensure messaging aligns with mission objectives. The role also involves identifying and countering misinformation or disinformation, supporting strategic engagement planning, maintaining documentation and knowledge management systems, and assisting with coordination of events, working groups, and stakeholder communications.

Compensation:

$55/hr to $60/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

Active TS/SCI clearance

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience) and 4 YOE in an enterprise level environment

Experience supporting public affairs, communications, or strategic communications within a DoD or federal environment

Previous experience working or attending DINFOS (Defense Information School)

Experience developing Public Affairs Guidance (PAG), talking points, and messaging in support of operations or crisis response

Ability to monitor and analyze media, information environment, and current events to assess operational impact

Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for senior leadership audiences

Ability to identify and respond to misinformation/disinformation

Experience working with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders Prior experience supporting DISA, DCDC, or Combatant Commands (COCOMs)

Familiarity with cyber operations or defensive cyber missions

Experience supporting crisis communications or incident response

Background in information operations or strategic engagement planning

Experience managing or updating knowledge management (KM) portals/tools

Experience supporting conferences, working groups, or symposiums

Familiarity with reviewing or contributing to cyber strategy, policy, or doctrine
