Position Description
The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s Global Jazz Studies IDP invites applications for a part‑time lecturer position in Instruction in Advanced Jazz Performance: Saxophone for the 2026‑27 academic year. The role includes individual student instruction in jazz saxophone at the university level. Candidates should have advanced expertise in group and solo instruction of a diverse mixture of jazz saxophone repertoire, concepts, and techniques. University teaching experience is preferred. A bachelor's degree is preferred. The start date for the academic year is September 21, 2026.
Responsibilities include:
Deliver individual lesson plans and instruction to students in saxophone performance.
Prepare students for advanced performance opportunities and assessment.
Engage with the jazz music community through cultural and educational initiatives.
Maintain accurate student records and reports.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
Advanced expertise in group and solo performance of a diverse mixture of jazz saxophone.
Experience interacting with the jazz music community on various cultural and educational initiatives.
Preferred qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
University teaching experience.
