Job Summary

WNEM is recruiting for a Reporter/MMJ. The Reporter/MMJ researches, writes, reports, shoots video, and edits news material for television newscasts and all WNEM news platforms and initiatives. This includes writing and posting daily on all digital platforms and social media. The successful individual will furnish a wide variety of news content, either working alone or in tandem with other field personnel. The Reporter/MMJ contributes live shots utilizing technology for feeding stories to the Content Center. The individual will be called upon to represent WNEM in public in a professional and courteous manner. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
Duties/Responsibilities

Write, report, present live from studio and in the field, shoot and edit video news stories from concept to finish; contribute copy stories to newscasts and digital platforms.
Perform live reports on a daily basis.
Generate story ideas, cultivate news sources, and remain knowledgeable regarding places, events, and people in the news, local and national.
Contribute to our minute‑by‑minute digital news efforts on all platforms with web content, social media posts, and live digital reports.
Build community contacts.
Share information relating to upcoming events, meetings, or story developments.
Present stories via on‑air, live from the set, live remotes, or live indoor locations.
Serve as community ambassador for the news department.
Respond to concerns of viewers.
Make personal appearances on behalf of the station.
Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
At least one year of experience in broadcast journalism.
Experience reporting (MMJ) news at a commercial television station preferred.
Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
