Sr Associate, Brand Communications
Location: El Segundo, California
Pay Range: USD $92,800 to $115,000 yearly
Overview
Senior Associate of Global Communications reports to the Senior Director of Global Brands Communication and supports the development and execution of public relations campaigns for Mattel’s portfolio of dolls brands, including Barbie, American Girl, Polly Pocket, Monster High, and Disney Princess.
Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of public relations programs for Mattel’s dolls brands, working with cross‑functional teams to bring brand stories to life through earned media.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop communications materials such as press releases, media alerts, briefing documents, Q&As, fact sheets, talking points, and other campaign assets.
Assist in planning and execution of product launches, brand campaigns, corporate initiatives, and cultural moments aligned with business objectives.
Draft messaging and executive briefing materials for media interviews, speaking engagements, events, and other communications opportunities.
Support executive social media content development related to Mattel brands and initiatives.
Coordinate day‑to‑day activities with external agency partners, managing timelines, deliverables, approvals, and campaign execution.
Build and maintain relationships with media and industry contacts, supporting outreach that generates positive brand awareness.
Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and cultural conversations to identify opportunities and insights for communications planning.
Support issues management and communications preparedness by developing materials and coordinating stakeholder communications.
Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance, media coverage, and communications results to provide learnings and recommendations.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and adapting to evolving priorities.
Qualifications
Interest and passion for positive impact on children worldwide.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
3+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or related field, preferably within an agency, entertainment, consumer products, lifestyle, or in‑house environment.
Proven experience supporting integrated communications campaigns from planning through execution.
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messaging for diverse audiences and platforms.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to develop thoughtful recommendations and execute plans with guidance from senior team members.
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional partners and external agencies.
Proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with initiative, working independently and collaboratively.
High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality work.
Interest in pop culture, media, social platforms, consumer brands, and evolving communications landscape.
