Program Details Program Dates: September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027
Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week, schedule to accommodate course schedules.
Location: Needham, Massachusetts
Internship Areas Creative Services/Social Media: Supports station marketing strategies across digital platforms. Responsibilities include story selection, editing social videos, collaborating with the Programming Department, creating thumbnails, capturing photos and videos at events, and brainstorming creative ideas.
Digital: Creates and adapts content for digital platforms, pitches, reports, writes news and feature stories, and produces and edits video for social media. Duties also include transforming linear broadcasts into short‑form content and shadowing newsroom professionals.
NBC10 and Telemundo Boston News: Hands‑on experience in the editorial process: planning, researching, newsgathering, writing, and editing. Interns learn editorial and technical aspects of news production and contribute to special projects.
Programming: Supports “The Hub Today” by writing on‑air scripts, producing segments, assisting with field shoots, managing on‑site guests, running teleprompters, editing video and social media, planning live shots, researching community features, and writing web articles.
Sports: Collaborates with content producers across platforms. Tasks include shooting and editing video, designing graphics, executing social media content, creating motion graphics, conducting research, archiving feeds, and writing copy.
Qualifications Basic Requirements Actively enrolled in a degree‑granting program at an accredited institution throughout the internship (September2026–April2027). Decembers 2026 graduates are not eligible.
Current class standing of sophomore or above (minimum 30 credits).
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring NBCUniversal sponsorship.
Available to work 16‑24 hours per week during the internship period.
Willing to work in Needham, MA.
Desired Characteristics Class standing of junior or above preferred.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Major: Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Digital/New Media Studies, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Production, English, Social Media, or Research.
Strongly preferred bilingual in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
Commitment to building an inclusive work environment.
Ability to multitask and remain highly organized.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Previous internship experience in a corporate setting.
Experience with social media platforms, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, and SEO tools such as Google Trends.
Hourly Rate The hourly rate for student interns is $19.00.
