Program Managers are responsible for providing effective leadership for an after-school program. This is an operational position with specific annual goals that require attention to detail, daily operational involvement, excellent communication and customer service skills. Successful candidates are effective in fostering collaboration among team members and providing dynamic leadership focused on student success.
Supervising a staff of 6-20, the Program Manager administers a program that provides academic, enrichment and recreation programs during after school time for kinder-6th grade students.
Provide excellent leadership, training, and direction to staff.
Regularly communicate with principal, teachers and families.
Build collaborative partnerships to enhance the programs.
Manage programs to meet enrollment, retention, and family satisfaction goals and objectives.
Follow protocols for high-risk employee/student issues.
Submit reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Communicate regularly with supervisor on all issues related to the effective operation of the program.
Assure compliance with all Center and school district policies and procedures; as well as federal, state, local and accreditation regulations, requirements and/or criteria.
Assure all Human Resources policies are implemented properly and followed consistently.
Treat all employees fairly, equitably, and with respect and dignity.
Job Specifications
General Requirements
Valid TB clearance and DOJ/FBI background check
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and comprehend English
Education
Required: 48 units of undergraduate coursework from an accredited college/university OR a Para-Educator Certificate (may vary by school district)
Highly Desirable: Associate’s degree or higher in Child Development, Education, Social Services, Psychology, or a related field
Experience (Highly Preferred)
At least 1 year of experience working with youth in educational or developmental settings.
At least 1 year of youth development experience or manager for a division of an organization.
Youth counseling or leadership in summer camps, clubs, or education-based organizations
Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated success working with local communities.
