The Associate Director, Visual Storytelling & Content Systems is a highly skilled contributor responsible for translating complex ideas into clear, compelling visual content and building scalable systems that improve how content is created and used across the organization.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing Operations & Experience, this role operates at the intersection of content creation and content infrastructure—producing high‑impact materials while developing templates and maintaining a digital asset management (DAM) system that enables teams to work more efficiently. This hands‑on role thrives in fast‑paced environments, is comfortable working from ambiguity, and can quickly turn discussions into structured, high‑quality outputs. It requires regular in‑person engagement and applicants must live within a reasonable commutable distance to a Year Up United location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate discussions, notes, and rough inputs into clear, structured visual content (e.g., presentations, one‑pagers, internal materials).

  • Design and deliver polished, executive‑ready assets with strong attention to layout, hierarchy, and clarity.

  • Synthesize complex or evolving ideas into concise, easy‑to‑understand narratives.

  • Iterate quickly based on feedback, balancing speed with quality.

Real‑Time Content Synthesis

  • Participate in meetings and working sessions to capture key ideas and translate them into structured outputs.

  • Ask clarifying questions to refine direction and ensure accuracy.

  • Develop initial drafts rapidly and refine into final deliverables.

Templates & Content Standardization

  • Develop and maintain templates for common organizational materials (e.g., presentations, one‑pagers, updates).

  • Build reusable content frameworks and modular slide libraries to improve efficiency and consistency.

  • Establish clear standards for formatting, structure, and visual storytelling.

Digital Asset Management (DAM)

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s content library, ensuring high‑value assets are organized, up to date, and accessible.

  • Define and maintain folder structures, naming conventions, and version control practices.

  • Curate and prioritize key materials to support reuse and self‑service across teams.

Vendor Coordination

  • Manage relationships with select external vendors (e.g., promotional, printing, video partners).

  • Develop briefs, provide feedback, and ensure quality of deliverables.

  • Coordinate vendor output to support internal content needs.

  • Coordinate with external designers as needed for additional support.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand needs and deliver high‑quality content.

  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced, feedback‑driven environment.

  • Maintain responsiveness and adaptability as priorities shift.

Learning Community Member

  • Serve as a mentor and coach for a small number of current students.

  • Participate in weekly group sessions and learning community activities.

  • Engage in staff meetings and professional development.

Qualifications

  • ~8 years of experience in content development, visual design, marketing, or a related field.

  • Strong hands‑on design experience (presentations, one‑pagers, internal materials).

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex ideas into clear, structured content.

  • Experience working from ambiguity and producing high‑quality outputs quickly.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud and similar design platforms.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience developing templates and/or reusable content systems.

  • Familiarity with digital asset management (DAM) systems or similar content libraries.

  • Experience working with external vendors or freelancers is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • $103,300 - $134,900
