Relationship Manager
Fiduciary Trust International is hiring a Relationship Manager to join our New York relationship management team. You will co‑manage a large book while maintaining your own book, serving as the main point of contact for UHNW clients and ensuring seamless delivery of Fiduciary Trust services.
In This Position, You Will
Coordinate all aspects of the client relationship, including speaking regularly with UHNW clients and providing guidance to in‑house Trust Officers, Investment Team, Tax team, and Trust Counsel.
Maintain and Grow Your Book of Business
Develop and maintain private client relationships, demonstrating knowledge of estate, tax, and financial planning concepts as they apply to the particular client.
Understand client/family goals and objectives, delivering appropriate solutions.
Engage in new business prospect meetings.
Responsibilities
Consult with clients to identify goals and objectives, including income and transfer of wealth.
Coordinate with PMs and other teammates to measure family risks.
Ensure all areas of Fiduciary Trust’s expertise are leveraged as necessary.
Coordinate family meetings, understand family dynamics, and work across generations.
Facilitate long‑term family education.
Interact with clients and prospects and independently handle deliverables.
Identify and secure new business opportunities.
Relationship Level Reporting
Provide master custody services.
Coordinate consolidated reporting.
Coordinate with PM on investment performance analysis.
Oversight of external assets or non‑managed assets.
Life Stage Planning
Coordinate gift and estate planning strategies with advisors.
Provide advice for retirement planning and philanthropic planning; implementation of charitable strategies.
Provide insurance reviews and partner with insurance experts on client needs.
Family Office and Fiduciary Administration
Day‑to‑day administrative tasks including correspondence, creation of presentations, special projects, etc.
Liquidity Analysis
Create lifestyle analysis as requested (analyze cash flow needs and budget preparation; prepare balance sheet; prepare and analyze wealth projections).
Tax Planning
Coordinate with internal tax accountants and consultants; coordinate annual gifting to individuals and charities.
Develop strategies to maximize after‑tax returns.
Estate Planning
Coordinate preparation of GRATs, ILITs, QPRTs, CLUTs and CRUTs.
Coordinate preparation & amendment of wills.
Coordinate creation of revocable trusts/irrevocable trusts.
Coordinate preparation of and discuss estate flow charts.
Investment Management
Work with Portfolio Manager and SAG to coordinate timeliness of completing matters pertaining to outside investments, including hedge funds/private equity.
Training and Development & Department Strategy
Guide/train junior teammates.
Assist with ad‑hoc department strategic initiatives and commitments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
4–6 years of experience in Relationship Management; ample client‑facing experience within the financial services industry.
CFP preferred; CTFA optional.
Trust knowledge.
Tax background helpful.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Can manage large and complex accounts independently, with limited oversight from Senior Relationship Manager.
Willingness and desire to learn and grow within the Relationship Management model.
Strong understanding and basic knowledge of competitors.
Trust Administration background and knowledge preferred; ability to review and interpret trust language.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Detail‑oriented with the ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines.
Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment while balancing client needs with FTCI business objectives.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with clients and build new client relationships.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle client account information.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically as it relates to client needs and department needs.
Self‑starter with the ability to be persistent in solving problems.
Ability to practice good judgment while making basic business decisions.
