Job Description

MN Drama is a theater club that is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers the students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships.

Position effective for the 2026-2027 School Year.

Qualifications

Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events.

Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work with students of all ability levels.

Education: Valid PA teaching certificate.

Essential Functions

A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members.

Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion.

Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships.

Advisors will supervise all club-related events and meetings.

The Sound Coordinator is responsible for supporting the technical production needs of school theater events held in the auditorium.

This position ensures the effective set‑up, operation, and breakdown of the auditorium’s sound systems that support performances, which include but are not limited to;

Coordinate with event organizers/director, music and drama staff, and building administration to determine technical needs prior to the production.

Set up microphones, soundboards and other technical equipment for performances.

Conduct sound checks and troubleshoot technical issues before and during performances.

Maintain basic oversight of auditorium sound equipment, reporting malfunctions or repair needs to the director and administration.

Assist with training or supervising the student stage crew and/or assistants when applicable.

Ensure equipment is properly shut down and secured after production.

Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.

Other duties as assigned by Administration.

Meeting Frequency
September – June; Attends and supports scheduled rehearsals and performances throughout the school year, including after-school and evening commitments. Time commitment varies based on production schedule, with increased hours during performance weeks.

Other Details
Approximate number of students enrolled: Approximately 80 students.

Clearances: In accordance with the school code, Act 24 and all related clearances.

Compensation
MNSD Supplementary Contract Unit Values 2026-2027: 1-2 years experience - $438.00; 3, 4, 5 years experience - $475.00; 6 years &over; experience - $510.00.
