Internship Overview

KCUR Studios interns work with a team of producers, reporters and hosts to create daily, weekly and seasonal podcasts such as Kansas City Today, A People's History of Kansas City, Overlooked, Seeking A Scientist, and Hungry for MO.

Interns gain experience mixing sound, pulling tape, sound design, scripting, and writing promos, and will be asked to think of creative ways for podcasts to engage new audiences. They may also help produce video and social media content.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the production team to create podcasts.
  • Mix sound, pull tape, design audio elements, script, and write promos.
  • Develop creative strategies to reach new audiences.
  • Assist in producing video and social media content (as needed).

Qualifications

  • Existing familiarity with Adobe Audition is preferred.

Shift & Employment Details

This is a temporary, full‑time 40‑hour per week internship. Internships are non‑benefit eligible.

Session dates may be negotiated; the current program session is September 14 2026 – May 28 2027.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly wage: $15.00 per hour.

Interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made with their institution.

Interns are not eligible for university benefits but may opt into the 403(b) Tax‑Deferred Annuity Plan. For details visit the Faculty & Staff Benefits website at
