About the Role

The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Property Claims with a focus on Commercial, Excess, and Surplus/Specialty lines. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the Property Claim Department, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and objectives. This role requires a leader with a strong background in claims operations, particularly in the commercial, excess, and surplus/specialty insurance sectors. The AVP will be accountable for the overall performance, growth, and profitability of the property claims segment, and will oversee the execution of the leadership team in delivering exceptional quality, customer service, and associate engagement. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing claims field policies, programs, and standards, as well as managing vendor relations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in achieving objectives related to claims handling practices, customer satisfaction, and productivity, and will be adept at setting strategic vision and building industry expertise.

Candidates for the AVP position should have an undergraduate degree, with a preference for a post-graduate degree, and at least 10 years of experience in claims operations, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity. Strong decision-making skills, strategic agility, and the ability to lead and manage diverse teams are essential. The role also requires a deep understanding of commercial, E&S, and specialty claims, distribution channels, and unfair claims handling regulations. The AVP will be expected to represent the organization in external forums and events and to drive field claims and technical excellence across geographies. Experience in LEAN management is desirable, and the candidate should be highly collaborative with value chain partners across business units.
