The Packaging Technician position is available at our Animal Health facility in De Soto, Kansas, located near the Kansas City metropolitan area. The DeSoto facility is expanding operations to manufacturing vaccines and biologics for large and companion animals and leveraging an experienced and innovative team environment. The key technologies at the site are biologics production using fermentation and cell culture platforms, filling and packaging.
Responsibilities
Work independently and as part of the packaging operations team to contribute to the daily completion and schedule adherence of production activities.
Carry out day‑to‑day production activities of sealed bottle label application, bottle packaging, palletization, process document completion, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.
Demonstrate good attention to detail and achieve consistent error‑free execution of daily job responsibilities.
Complete documentation using Good Documentation Practices.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and employ basic problem‑solving skills.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
Skills and Experience:
Effective verbal and written communications; able to communicate information to colleagues at various levels.
Follow/comply with Manufacturing/Packaging directions, SOPs, company/corporate/regulatory policies.
Basic time‑management skills to meet given deadlines.
Team‑work and support of team members.
Basic computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel.
Ability to work overtime as needed due to business demands.
Assist in training new team members.
Operate a company forklift and pallet jack.
Assist with equipment set‑up and operation.
Preferred:
Experience working in a manufacturing/packaging environment.
Good understanding of aseptic processes used in manufacturing/packaging.
Experience in SAP or other ERP system.
Working Conditions
Third shift Monday–Friday, 9:30 pm – 6:00 am.
Flexibility required for overtime, including holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays as business needs demand.
Travel is not required.
Work in climate‑controlled and non‑climate‑controlled areas.
Salary and Benefits
$48,600 – $76,600 (salary range). The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual bonus and long–term incentive, if applicable. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, other insurance (employee and family), 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and compassionate and sick days.
