Mechanical Operator

2nd Shift

This role operates and supports packaging, cutting, and press machinery in a regulated manufacturing environment on 2nd shift. You will perform machine changeovers, assist with equipment setup and basic mechanical tasks, monitor production batches, and ensure products are packaged, labeled, and documented according to good manufacturing practices. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and cleanliness throughout the production process.
Responsibilities
Operate packaging, cutter, press, and related production equipment safely and efficiently on 2nd shift.
Perform machine changeovers and equipment setup, including adjusting, resetting, and preparing machines for different products or batches.
Assist maintenance technicians by disassembling and reassembling equipment components as instructed.
Monitor equipment performance and observe production throughout the batch process to ensure consistent quality and output.
Follow good manufacturing practice (GMP) guidelines and adhere to all documented procedures.
Identify and communicate missing or insufficient raw materials to warehouse personnel and supervisors to prevent production delays.
Package approved batches and accurately label all finished product containers.
Stock supplies and label containers of raw materials as needed to support continuous production.
Use equipment only when it is in proper working condition and perform routine maintenance as required.
Clean, sanitize, and inspect tools, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other equipment according to established procedures.
Complete end-of-day procedures, including restocking raw materials, performing housekeeping tasks, and controlling and documenting production waste.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety regulations and procedures, including proper handling of chemicals.
Train new operators on equipment operation, procedures, and safety practices.
Observe all safety rules and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when working on or near equipment.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support production and facility operations.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience operating high-speed packaging, filling, capping, labeling, cutting, and pressing equipment.
Mechanical aptitude to perform changeovers, equipment setup, and basic disassembly and reassembly tasks.
Ability to operate packaging equipment, cutter machines, and press machines safely and effectively.
Familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and regulated production environments.
Experience working with heat exchangers and vacuum pumps or similar mechanical systems.
Ability to monitor production batches and identify equipment or process issues promptly.
Capability to follow detailed procedures for cleaning, sanitizing, and inspecting tools, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other equipment.
Strong focus on safety, including understanding the hazards of handling various chemicals and following lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Ability to train new operators and share best practices in equipment operation and safety.
Comfort working on your feet for the duration of the shift in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience performing routine maintenance on production equipment.
Strong attention to detail in labeling, documentation, and waste control.
Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse staff, supervisors, maintenance technicians, and other operators.

Work Environment
This role is based in a general manufacturing environment on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday. Typical shift options at the facility include 1st shift (7:00 a.m.3:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m.11:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m.7:30 a.m.), with this position specifically assigned to 2nd shift. The plant is smaller in scale and temperature-controlled, providing a comfortable working climate. You will work around packaging equipment, cutter machines, presses, heat exchangers, vacuum pumps, and other production machinery, and you will spend most of the day on your feet while operating equipment, performing changeovers, and completing cleaning and housekeeping tasks.

Pay and Benefits
