Design Director – Girls Sleepwear & Basics (Off-Price Division)
The Design Director will lead the creative direction and product development for the Girls Sleepwear and Basics categories within the company’s Off-Price division. Reporting directly to the Head of Division, this role is responsible for driving trend‑right, commercially successful product assortments while managing and mentoring a team of four designers and product development professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design strategy and seasonal product direction for Girls Sleepwear and Basics across key off‑price retail accounts.

Develop trend‑driven, value‑focused collections that align with customer needs, market opportunities, and retailer requirements.

Partner closely with merchandising, sales, sourcing, and production teams to ensure product concepts are executed efficiently and profitably.

Manage and mentor a team of four, fostering creativity, collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.

Oversee the design process from concept through final approval, ensuring brand consistency, quality standards, and speed‑to‑market objectives are met.

Analyze market trends, competitive products, and consumer insights to identify opportunities within the off‑price channel.

Present seasonal concepts, color palettes, prints, fabrications, and assortment strategies to senior leadership and retail partners.

Collaborate with overseas factories and sourcing teams to develop cost‑effective products while maintaining design integrity.

Balance trend, quality, and margin requirements to support the unique demands of the off‑price business model.

Drive innovation in product development while maintaining a strong focus on commercial viability and customer value.

Leadership Responsibilities

Directly manage a team of four design and product development professionals.

Establish clear goals, priorities, and timelines for the team.

Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to support team success.

Foster a collaborative and results‑oriented culture.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in apparel design, with strong expertise in girls’ sleepwear, basics, or related children’s apparel categories.

Proven leadership experience managing and developing design teams.

Strong understanding of the off‑price retail landscape and value‑driven product development.

Excellent trend forecasting, print/pattern development, and assortment‑building skills.

Ability to balance creative vision with cost, margin, and production requirements.

Strong presentation, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Experience working with overseas vendors and sourcing partners.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and related design tools.

Salary: $175,000‑$200,000
