Social Media reports to the Visuals Team Lead and serves as a key visual storyteller for the University, creating compelling, digital-first content that advances institutional priorities and strengthens the Carolina brand. Working collaboratively with colleagues in University Communications and Marketing, this position develops high-impact multimedia content with a social-first mindset, producing videos, photography, motion graphics, short-form content, and other digital assets optimized for social media, web and emerging platforms. This position researches, plans, captures, edits and publishes multimedia content that tells authentic, engaging stories about the University's people, research, teaching and impact. The Multimedia Content Specialist is responsible for creating platform-specific content that drives engagement, expands reach and supports integrated marketing and communications campaigns across the University's official digital channels. The position is expected to make timely editorial decisions, identify emerging storytelling opportunities and adapt content quickly to real-time events and conversations while maintaining the University's brand standards and reputation. In addition to producing social-first video and visual content, this position supports the development, production and promotion of University podcasts, including recording, editing, creating promotional assets and developing social media campaigns that extend podcast reach and audience engagement. The Multimedia Content Specialist also provides creative multimedia support for executive communications, producing videos, photography and digital assets that amplify the Chancellor, senior leaders and other institutional priorities across internal and external communications. The position collaborates closely with writers, designers, marketers and strategists to execute integrated campaigns, evaluate content performance using analytics and continuously refine content based on audience insights and evolving digital best practices. As needed, the Multimedia Content Specialist also supports broader University Communications and Marketing initiatives by contributing multimedia expertise to institutional campaigns and special projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements - Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
