Position Summary
Director – Outreach, Onboarding, and Student Engagement (Full‑time, Academic Administrator) at Fresno City College.

Essential Functions

Plan, organize, direct, control, integrate, and evaluate the work of the College Relations and Outreach department, including student support, matriculation, and outreach programs.

Develop and monitor the department budget, and participate in district and college budget planning.

Lead the performance management cycle for department staff, including goal setting, coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in partnership with Human Resources.

Provide leadership to a high‑performance, service‑oriented work environment that supports the department’s and district’s mission, values, and performance goals.

Plan and implement outreach activities, placement testing, advisement, and enrollment programs to recruit and retain prospective students.

Collaborate with Public Information Officers to market outreach and student success efforts, coordinate campus tours, and lead large orientation and registration events.

Establish partnerships with K‑12 schools, adult education programs, and community groups to schedule and facilitate matriculation activities and events.

Make presentations to diverse audiences, including the Board of Trustees and other board‑level groups.

Participate in planning the Student Support Services and Programs (SSSP) Plan and the Student Equity Plan to increase student diversity.

Recommend, develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures to improve program effectiveness.

Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, district policies, and reporting requirements for student assessment and testing.

Work with Institutional Research to develop and analyze program tracking systems, assess program effectiveness, and monitor budgets.

Serve on committees and task forces, represent the district at conferences and workshops, oversee grant applications, and present to diverse audiences.

Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to historically minoritized student populations.

Collaborate with other district leaders to ensure consistency of outreach and matriculation programs.

Oversee the Student Ambassadors program.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution or a valid California Community College Supervisory Credential.

Minimum six years of student support services experience, at least two of which in outreach and matriculation services, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Evidence of responsiveness to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Valid California driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance program.

Desired Qualifications

Experience addressing equity issues and working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.

Commitment to participatory governance, consensus building, and team‑based management.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $136,607 – $153,752 based on education and experience.

219 duty days and 24 vacation days per year (243 days total).

Doctoral stipend of $2,419 (if applicable).

Members of the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS).

Selection Process
Applicants will be screened by Human Resources. Qualified candidates will be interviewed by a search advisory committee, then by a final interview panel, and ultimately recommended to the Vice President and College President for final approval.
