Actors needed for "Lend Me a Tenor" play. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Set in September 1934, the general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company awaits world-famous tenor Tito Merelli for a one-night performance. After a series of mishaps leaves Tito unconscious, his assistant Max dons his costume to fool the audience — until Tito wakes up and gets into an identical costume himself. Now two opera singers are running around in the same costume while two women, each believing she is with Il Stupendo, create comedic chaos. A Tony Award-winning screwball comedy.

Callbacks: Monday, July 20, 7:00–9:00 PM at the main CVLT building. No casting decisions made until after callbacks. Audition slots are 10 minutes; sides from the script will be used. No monologue preparation required. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, August 4; typically run Sunday through Thursday. Performances: September 25 – October 18, 2026. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM; Sundays October 4 and October 18 at 2:00 PM. If interested, please apply.

Tito Merelli — Male 30-59 y.o. All ethnicities. Description: World-famous Italian superstar tenor. A strong, legit tenor voice is desirable but not a deal breaker.

Saunders — Male 50-69 y.o. All ethnicities. Description: An authoritarian, high-strung, and fiercely pragmatic businessman on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Maggie — Female 20-34 y.o. All ethnicities. Description: A sweet, bright, and slightly naïve ingénue.

Maria — Female 30-59 y.o. All ethnicities. Description: A fiercely proud, explosive, and deeply passionate wife.

Diana — Female 30-49 y.o. All ethnicities. Description: An ambitious prima donna soprano.

Julia — Female 60-79 y.o. All ethnicities. Description: The grand dame of Cleveland society.

The Bellhop — Male 18-96 y.o. All ethnicities. Description: A cynical, hyperactive star-worshipper.
