Program Coordinator, Senior (Gila County) (Part Time) (ETE)

Position Highlights
This position will lead the development, implementation and daily management of the Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) program on San Carlos Apache Lands, with the direction of the Gila County Family, Consumer & Health Sciences (FCHS) Agent. Responsibilities will include coordinating program operations, partnerships, outreach, and educational activities while ensuring all program goals, contractual deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements are achieved in alignment with the priorities of the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board (First Things First; FTF). This position provides education to non-traditional caregivers of young children. The program teaches early brain development, social and emotional well‑being, attachment, physical safety, health, nutrition, and related topics. The role will be carried out on San Carlos Apache Lands within the San Carlos Apache FTF Region in collaboration with First Things First, the Arizona Board of Regents, the University of Arizona on behalf of the Gila County Cooperative Extension, and other possible funding sources. The candidate will provide expert guidance and technical assistance to FFN providers and develop educational materials appropriate for the audience.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate, prepare, and facilitate local trainings, workshops, meetings, or conferences for early care individuals, FFN, and stakeholders.

Create educational materials, activities, and curriculum series, improving lessons and activities to better meet the intended audience.

Develop, compile, and distribute communications and promotional literature, including outreach material and social media or newspaper postings.

Collaborate with local community partners on early childhood and health/safety concerns by attending meetings, providing presentations on the importance of FFN education, and serving as a community resource to other local stakeholders.

Create, distribute, and manage surveys and evaluation data, including storage, data entry, and the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and pursue objectives with minimal supervision.

Effective communication skills with a multifaceted population, especially tribal nations.

Skills in creating and delivering educational materials.

Knowledge of adult education practices (informal).

Knowledge of early child development, health topics, and the importance of early care.

Knowledge of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and surrounding areas.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

A willingness to work some weekends and weeknights, as travel statewide for trainings and meetings will be required.

A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.

Experience providing expert guidance and technical assistance to family, friend, and neighbor care providers on a wide range of early childhood, health, and safety topics.

Proven experience in collecting, synthesizing, and disseminating research‑based information to appropriate audiences.

Experience creating and teaching early brain development.

Experience using Microsoft Office and computer‑based reporting systems.

Bilingual in English and Apache.

Compensation and Benefits
Non‑Exempt; Part Time; 20 hours per week; hourly rate $25.50 – $31.87. Benefits eligible: Yes – Full Benefits. Job FTE: 0.50; FLSA: Non‑Exempt; Job Category: Agriculture and Extension; Work Calendar: Fiscal; Rate of Pay Field reflects a good‑faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
