Responsibilities
Promote the assigned sports through traditional media relations means, including pitching stories, press releases, notes, previews, and recaps, using Adobe Creative Cloud products.
Develop and implement an overall content strategy for internal channels – social media platforms and the official athletics website – working closely with creative media and marketing departments.
Liaise with the creative media department to ensure all scheduled events have photo and video coverage.
Develop working relationships with all constituencies of assigned teams – coaching staffs, student-athletes, sport supervisors, support staff, local, regional and national media.
Ensure accurate statistical data and photo archiving for the assigned sports.
Maintain and upkeep the assigned sports pages on the official website of Gamecock Athletics (GamecocksOnline.com).
Coordinate publicity efforts to direct media attention toward student-athletes and coaches being considered or nominated for special awards or recognition.
Supervise press operations for the assigned sports and ensure an adequate staff of student assistants is available to assist with media and social media coverage of home events.
Report statistics and award nominations to the conference and national offices.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at the collegiate level (Division I) is preferred. Experience with development and dissemination of informational material.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations related to communications and PR. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, social media platforms, photography, and video shooting/editing. Familiarity with NCAA rules applicable to athletic communications is beneficial.
