Job Overview
Campus Recreation Coordinator responsible for overseeing operations of campus recreation administration, programs, and facilities during set work hours. Provides direction to part‑time and student workers, ensures safety, reduces risk, and performs job specific functions.
Key Responsibilities
Directly oversee a communications team of part‑time and student employees, including hiring, training, developing, scheduling, and evaluating.
Assist in managing facility reservations and scheduling internal and external events for various campus recreation facilities.
Respond to reservation requests, communicate with Liberty Events, avoid scheduling oversights, and monitor and edit 25‑Live.
Coordinate with facility staff to walk through facilities, align day‑of details, and ensure setup and tear‑down needs are met.
Manage departmental email and voicemail inboxes, responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
Document, track and report program statistics and objective progress in reservation area.
Assist with events or operations during evenings, nights, or weekends as needed.
Stay abreast of industry standards and performance benchmarks to keep communications and scheduling current.
Perform other tasks assigned by the Associate Director of Communications & Personnel.
Attend required campus recreation trainings and meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise up to six student employees.
Qualifications
Four‑year college degree in Sport Management, Recreation Management, Business, Communications or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
Preferred qualifications:
Graduate degree earned or in progress.
Experience with scheduling software such as 25‑Live.
Abilities and Competencies
Effective verbal and written communication, public speaking skills.
Strong organization, computer, and analytical problem‑solving skills.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
Frequent travel to local and campus locations.
Extended periods of sedentary desk work.
Regular speaking and occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs.
Light lifting up to 10 pounds.
Working Conditions
Climate‑controlled office setting, well‑lit, moderate noise level.
Use of personal vehicle or university vehicle required; valid Virginia driver’s license and insurance required.
Compensation and Benefits
Full‑time, onsite, $18.27 – $21.15 per hour.
