In this role, you will report to the Shea YTH High School Pastor and are responsible for providing support for the pastoral oversight to the YTH Ministry of Scottsdale Bible Church – Shea Campus, overseeing all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of students from 6th through 12th grade.Your Essential Responsibilities:Under the leadership of the Shea HSM Pastor, in this position you will:For the safety and protection of minors and vulnerable adults, you will be responsible for understanding and complying with mandatory reporting laws, along with training any volunteers under your supervision (if applicable) to ensure adherence to these legal requirementsImplement and oversee all applicable safety and security measures and ensure training and compliance of all HSM team membersCast VisionCast the vision of YTH to students, volunteer leaders, parents, and the churchContinually keep the vision present by projecting it, living it, repeating it and praising it on a regular basisBuild TeamsProvide care for the HSM and JHM volunteer teams with emphasis on serving as a shepherd for female volunteer leaders at the Shea Campus. Lead in administering care, corrective measures, and troubleshooting various issues with female volunteer staff members as they ariseMentor and disciple female volunteer leaders and equip them to disciple female studentsHelp recruit, train, cast vision, and show appreciation for all YTH volunteer ministry teams (Currently: Welcome Team, Student Connect Team, Greeter Team, and Parent Team)Help develop any new ministry teams as necessaryBe available to train Ministers in Residence (MIRs) and Interns for the work of the ministryHelp develop volunteers who move through the PEO process – Participation, Engagement, and OwnershipHelp maintain updated serving teams for all your volunteers in ROCKExecute MinistryTeach and preach to students the truth of God’s word through culturally relevant and high-energy worship servicesWrite or curate small group curriculum to compliment teaching topics and train leaders on content and delivery of curriculumEducate and encourage students to participate in evangelical outreach locally with peers, the community, and worldwide through special events and mission trips. Help plan, facilitate, and lead local service projects and short-term mission trips as neededAssist in the planning and execution of retreats and camps for studentsAssist in the creation of the HSM and JHM event calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry and align with the church’s calendar and programsDesign, plan, and conduct periodic student parent meetings to engage and update families of students attending SBCCounsel students, volunteers, and parents as needed. Equip volunteer leaders to assist in thisHelp plant, lead, and grow Food and Fellowship clubs at High Schools and Middle Schools in the area and work with students to reach people on their campusesAssist with Shea Campus events as needed and directed by the Shea Campus pastor. Attend regular Shea Campus Team meetingsOther Responsibilities (Non-Essential):Assist in the development of an annual budget for YTH and manage budget throughout the fiscal yearServe as a Ministry Leader for Scottsdale Bible Church and work alongside other ministries giving support and encouragement as a team playerIntentionally engage and collaborate with the broader church ministry team for the purpose of vision and mission alignmentAvailable for Pastor of the Day (POD) dutiesRelated duties or special projects as assignedSkills you need to succeed:Knowledge of:Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)Demonstrated competency in:Interpersonal savvyManaging vision & purposeConflict managementListeningDelegating tasks and responsibilitiesStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsAbility to:Discern needs and respond appropriatelyMaintain a high degree of professionalism and accuracyShift focus quickly from one project to another and multi-taskHandle confidential informationPersonal Qualifications:Committed to spiritual, individual, and professional growthPromotes relationally unity among staff, volunteers, and studentsServant-heartedOperates in grace and truthEducation and/or experience:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institutionIf desiring a Pastor/Minister title, a Master’s degree (or working toward) from an accredited seminary or equivalent (MA, MDiv, ThM) preferred*3-5 years’ experience in a similar ministry role preferredWhile not immediately required, this position may require successful completion of seminary education as part of the ongoing training process and/or requirement for continued employment.
