Senior Accounts Assistant - ENV

Join the collaborative team at the Missouri Army National Guard’s (MOARNG) Environmental Office! As a Senior Accounts Assistant working under the Financial Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial accuracy and integrity of our environmental programs. This is a permanent, full-time position with excellent state benefits.

Job Location:

This position will be located at Ike Skelton Training Site, Environmental Management Office, 6819B North Boundary Rd Jefferson City, MO.

Review and process purchase orders, encumbrances, and payments to support the Missouri National Guard Environmental Program.

Determine the correct sequence of accounting entries across various state and federal systems, such as SAMII and Missouri Buys.

Examine expenditures for propriety and reasonableness and determine appropriate accounts to be charged or credited.

Develop transaction packets and archive supporting documentation to provide an accurate and defensible audit trail of all MOARNG Environmental transactions.

Maintain databases by entering funds obligation information on a weekly basis and perform quality control to ensure the reliability of financial data.

Provide funding and budgetary support for the planning and execution of environmental projects.

Process time, attendance, and expense reports.

Collaborate with senior accounting staff to document, develop, and maintain step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training guides for core financial and accounting workflows.

Maintain liaison with state and federal offices on accounting matters.

We are looking for a self-motivated person who works well independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications

3-5 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed)

Experience with fiscal and operational policies, preferably in state or federal government

Advanced knowledge of SAM II Financial and MissouriBuys. Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices and ability to apply them to varied accounting transactions.

Ability to perform detailed work using statistical data and financial data and to create spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel

Valid State Driver’s License

Be able to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and proficiency in Accounting, Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, 10-key
