Lead PeIMS Specialist

Coordinate and oversee the collection, validation, and reporting of district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely submission in accordance with state and federal requirements. Manage the district's student transfer process and monitor compliance with attendance procedures outlined in the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH). Provide guidance and support to campus attendance clerks to ensure consistent implementation of attendance accounting practices.
Qualifications:
High School diploma; Preferred degree and/or TASBO certification
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Ability to use a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
Ability to meet established deadlines
Possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with other staff members as part of a team within a production-oriented information systems environment
Ability to work unsupervised and set task priorities
Minimum two years recent experience utilizing student or business data applications systems including but not limited to student demographic data, staff demographic data, attendance accounting, grade reporting, special programs, PEIMS, discipline
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Coordinate the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS, OCR, and TSDS Core Collections according to required Data Standards.
Work cooperatively with campus, business office, and personnel office staff to collect, organize, and format data required to submit district PEIMS data according to prescribed state deadlines.
Run edits, reports, and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information.
Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction.
Submit complete and accurate PEIMS data in TEA-prescribed format to the education service center for processing.
Monitor compliance with TREX student records processing.
Verify data submitted to TEA and submit corrections in a timely manner.
Secure and maintain attendance accounting records according to the district's records retention schedule.
Process and monitor student transfer applications in accordance with district guidelines and applicable state requirements.
Monitor and ensure compliance with attendance accounting procedures outlined in the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH)
Provide training and support to campuses and to business and personnel office staff responsible for processing PEIMS data.
Provide guidance and support to campus attendance clerks regarding attendance accounting procedures and PEIMS reporting requirements.
Receive PEIMS-related information from ESC and TEA, attend all regional PEIMS workshops, and disseminate information to other staff in a timely manner, including updates to PEIMS Data Standards.
Assist campus principals, assistant principals, counselors, and attendance clerks with Frontline Student Information System
Maintains strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations
Communicates effectively with district personnel to assure that the highest level of diplomacy is maintained at all times
Demonstrates an attitude of quality service with working with district personnel
Accomplishes tasks in a timely manner
Periodically works after normal duty hours and occasional weekends or holidays to meet project deadlines or as directed by supervisor
Accepts other responsibilities as assigned
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide and statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
