Director of Communications

A well-established, mission-driven organization is seeking a Director of Communications to lead strategic marketing, communications, branding, and digital engagement efforts. This leadership role partners closely with executive leadership while managing a high-performing communications team and supporting organization-wide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Marketing & Communications team

Drive integrated marketing and communication strategies across the organization

Oversee brand management, messaging, content strategy, and audience engagement

Manage digital communications, website strategy, social media, and marketing automation initiatives

Support major organizational initiatives, events, enrollment/recruitment efforts, fundraising campaigns, and community engagement programs

Provide editorial oversight for internal and external communications

Partner with executive leadership on sensitive, urgent, and crisis communications

Manage agency, vendor, sponsorship, and external partner relationships

Develop and track key performance metrics, analytics, and reporting

Oversee department budgets, priorities, workflows, and operational processes

Qualifications

7+ years of progressive marketing and communications experience

Previous leadership experience managing and developing teams

Strong background in brand management, digital marketing, content strategy, and communications

Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

Experience collaborating across multiple departments and stakeholder groups

Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, vendors, and external agencies

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field

Advanced degree preferred

Experience with website/CMS platforms, email marketing, social media management, analytics, and reporting tools

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, project management platforms, and marketing technology tools

Schedule
