Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.We're hiring a Technical Writer to research and write technical documentation about ALSO's e-bike hardware and software for global audiences. You'll work cross-functionally across engineering, support, testing, marketing, and product management, partnering with other writers and illustrators to produce owner's guides, service manuals, and accessory guides for internal and external audiences. You'll also take part in product teardowns, builds, and validation testing to ensure consistency and clarity across all documentation.What You'll DoProduce technical content to assemble, use, and service our products (hardware and software)Create content that is scalable across multiple products and can be easily translated into multiple languagesLearn complex technical products quickly with the assistance of subject matter expertsPartner with technical illustrators to create renderings and video that will be integrated into technical publicationsPerform all phases of content development, including planning and research, design, writing, editing, embedding illustrations, and publishingDeliver documentation in multiple formats (print, PDF, web-based, mobile) and integrate with internal platforms or service portalsManage content through revision control, translation, and file managementKeep documentation up to date on newly released featuresWork with the Tech Publications team to continually improve documentation process, quality, and usabilityCollaborate with other teams to ensure consistency and transparency across all documentationWhat You'll BringMinimum 2-4 years of technical writing experience in a complex product environment (hardware and software)Experience documenting hardware assembly or installation at the product level (you know and care what a torque specification is)Experience developing topic-based and structured content, with an understanding of information architecture principles and content organization, writing for a global audience by defaultExceptional proficiency in written English for documentation that is accurate, concise, and flows logicallyDetail-oriented, systematic, and investigative writing process, with the ability to learn complex technical products quickly from subject matter experts and translate them into audience-relevant documentationProficient in XML or HTML authoring tools such as Flare or oXygen (Madcap Flare experience a plus), with basic knowledge of photography and image editing software (Photoshop, GIMP, Illustrator, etc.) and proficiency in MS Office or Google SuiteAbility to work on multiple projects concurrently while meeting tight deadlines, with proven organizational skills and the ability to prioritize amid competing demandsSelf-starter with strong teamwork skillsExperience with CMS, LMS, and/or TMS, and knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management tools, are a plusExperience in bicycles, EVs, or consumer electronics, and knowledge of regulatory and safety standards (CE, EN, ISO, UL, etc.), are a plusThe salary for this position ranges from $85,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.Perks & BenefitsRobust health coverage — excellent health, dental and vision insurance covered up to 100% by ALSO with FSA & HSA optionsOne Medical membership and dedicated insurance advocatesRich fertility and family building benefits with ProgynyFlexible time off401(k) matchWhy ALSO.We're passionate about helping the world find a better way to get there—wherever it is you're headed.We're located in the heart of Silicon Valley and have brought together a world-class team from some of the biggest brands in the technology, automotive, cycling, outdoor recreation and retail spaces.Together we're working hands-on to imagine, design and build an entirely new solution to a global set of transportation challenges.
