Job Description
Position: Multimedia Production Teacher - 0.2 FTE
Job Goals
The Multimedia Production Teacher will teach one section (0.2 FTE) of PA8205Z Multimedia Production – Honors, a hands-on course that empowers students to become skilled digital storytellers and community communicators. The course focuses on producing The Pondercast, a weekly student news show, and additional multimedia projects that showcase and connect our school community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a role-relevant field;
- Professional or instructional experience in video/audio production, broadcast journalism, or multimedia storytelling
- Experience working with high school or college students in a production-based environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with staff and students to source and create timely, relevant content
- Familiarity with the 2019 DESE Media Arts Frameworks and a commitment to promoting access to media arts education
- DESE Licensure in Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts, Instructional Technology, Digital Literacy/Computer Science, Technology/Engineering, Library; Radio & Television Broadcasting
- Experience coordinating school/community media initiatives or school news programs
- Teach and manage one section of Multimedia Production – Honors
- Guide students through all phases of media production: research, scripting, filming, editing, and publishing
- Utilize and teach video production tools and techniques, including software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent
- Support student collaboration and project management in a studio-like environment
- Oversee integration with The Pondercast Club and coordinate content development
- Connect course content to real-world practices in media, journalism, and communications
- Manage collaboration with Arlington Community Media, Inc. (“ACMI”).
- Promote digital citizenship and media literacy, including emerging tools and trends
- Encourage student engagement, creativity, and independent initiative
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 Days in accordance with contract between the
Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association, Unit A
Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.
The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience.
Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2025-2026 school year will be August 27, 2025. However, new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
