General

I'm very proud of this. I was called in at the last minute, as an emergency replacement for a SME writer who'd had to cancel. The field is not among my specialties, I hadn't worked this system of long-form informational writing before, and I still ended up with very happy employers!
Medical writing for a lay audience.
Travel article, sold to Gadling.com. Quirky, chatty voice, mild humor in a relaxed reporting style.
This paper was written to promote a company's online math educational material. The intended audience was expected to be parents looking for strong support for their children's math education. The tone was to be mid-level academic, but accessible within that range.
A short piece of science writing on the life cycle of red algae.
Tonino and the Incubus was published by the short-lived but worthy Helix SF. It qualified for the 2007 Nebula awards, though it did not win. I remain proud of it, in all its shocking glory.
I love this story. I sold it to Cicada Magazine, and it was printed in 2005. In 2012 the magazine chose to reprint it online. It's short, sweet, and kid-worthy...and I still think it both fun and clever.
A white paper to promote a math learning tool. Tone: academic but easy to access. Audience: Educated parents of young students.
