Hiring Range: $20.00 - $25.00 This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Pay rates are based on education,skill, experience level and internal equity. The South Boulevard Library is located on South Boulevard,just 0.60 miles from the Lynx Blue Line Scaleybark Station. Originally opened in 1985 as theScaleybark Library, this location is a 18,850-square foot building and aconvenient location for the many customers in this growing area along SouthBoulevard. The new branch includes new, reimagined spaces for both children andteens, public computers, children's computers, a large community room, aprogramming room, a quiet reading room, a calming room, five group study rooms,a computer lab and a laptop bar for customers who want to bring their owndevices, many collaborative spaces and a vending café. The South BoulevardLibrary has one of the largest Spanish and bilingual (Spanish/English)collections to serve its large Spanish-speaking community.

The Library Associate works within the branch team to create a welcoming andengaging environment for adults. The Library Associate leads age-appropriateprograms for adults including digital literacy classes, technology tutoring,resume workshops, book clubs, and other adult programs. This positionrepresents the library in the community and facilitates outreach to varioussenior communities and area partners. The Library Associate participates insystemwide teams and works collaboratively with staff in Adult Services. Strongprogramming and outreach experience is highly desirable. Proven ability tobuild and maintain library and community partnerships is a plus as well asdeveloping positive and ongoing relationships with library users and communitypartners. Must be a highly collaborativeteam player and a strong individual contributor. Supervisory skills are highlydesirable as well as the ability to inspire excellence in a diverse staff. Mustbe able to work with limited supervision and exercise sound independentjudgment. The incumbent will also be responsible for circulationresponsibilities including but not limited to attending the monthly AccessServices Manager meeting, staffing a busy information desk, and servingcustomers of all ages.

South Boulevard Library is committed to providing exemplary service to allcustomers through technology and computer assistance and research and readers'advisory from a single service desk. TheLibrary Associate serves as a regular manager-on-duty. Previous experience with branch operations,opening/closing a facility and cash handling procedures stronglypreferred. Rotating schedule includingevenings and weekends. The Library Associate should have strong technology andcomputer skills.

Schedule includes a minimum of one evening shift per week and a rotatingweekend schedule.

Position Summary Perform professional andtechnical library work in one or more specific library programs such as Adult,Teens, Youth, Reference Services, or Library Systems Administration. TheLibrary Associate delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring theprovision of value-added experiences for all customers.

Essential Functions Strong programming and outreach experience is highly desirable. The Adult Services Associate will coordinate and develop relevant programs, including digital literacy classes, technology tutoring, resume workshops, book clubs, and other adult programs needed to meet the community needs. Proven ability to build and maintain community partnerships is a plus as well as developing positive and ongoing relationships with families, library users, staff, and community partners Prepare program reports Provide research assistance to customers Utilize integrated library systems software Provide service desk coverage Assist customers at several service points Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes Maintain library's collection of materials including repairs, shelving, and marketing Assist with volunteer management Promote and market library programs, collaborating with Marketing and Communications to generate flyers and materials pertaining to programs Design and provide developmentally appropriate programs for emerging adults, adults and seniors Create and maintain attractive and appropriate bulletin boards and displays Provide electronic resource assistance and basic computer skills training for adults.

Minimum Qualifications Experience: Minimum of two years of library, retail, computer, or customer service experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Education/Experience Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of integrated library systems software (IE: Polaris) At least three years of library, customer service and/or administrative experience Experience working with adults. Bilingual - Spanish communication skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) are preferred in order to serve a large Spanish-speaking population within the area. Additionally, experience working with minority populations is a plus, as well as being culturally aware and sensitive to diverse cultures and populations
