Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, creative communicator with a passion for food, nutrition and wellness to lead marketing and communications for NC State Dining. The ideal candidate brings proven leadership, thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to elevate the visibility of our dining operations and highlight our signature strengths, including culinary excellence, nutrition and sustainability.
The marketing communications manager will drive the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies across digital and traditional channels. This role leads and collaborates with a marketing coordinator, graphic designer and student social media team.
Campus Enterprises is NC State University's division of retail and hospitality organizations - NC State Dining, NC State Stores, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the One Card Office. Each department is dedicated to providing service excellence, value and enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success.
This is an hourly position that includes a State required 32-day break at the end of 11 months. Superior work performance may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advance into a benefits eligible permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and implement short and long range marketing and communication goals and objectives.
Evaluate program performance and recommend improvements.
Develop marketing assets in collaboration with creative staff.
Coordinate activations and outreach with internal stakeholders, vendors and campus departments.
Prepare budget requests for communications programs.
Apply AP style and university brand guidelines to all written materials and maintain strong knowledge of culinary terminology.
Project Management
Prioritize and articulate deliverables in the project management system and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
Assign tasks and deadlines to the marketing coordinator, graphic designer, web content manager and student employees, providing clear instructions to support timely completion.
Communication and Brand Management
Develop and implement marketing and public relations strategies to reach defined goals and target audiences.
Write and edit news releases, newsletters, articles, brochures, advertisements, social media posts and other materials.
Represent NC State Dining through public speaking, collaboration and customer engagement.
Present and maintain a consistent, dynamic brand image.
Collaborate with the graphic designer to produce all marketing and communication materials that meet brand standards.
Requirements Work Schedule: 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
Other Responsibilities: Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university as a whole and enrich the quality of life for the campus community and support student success. Work as a cohesive team member and play an integral part in creating a positive work environment.
Minimum Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, public relations, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in marketing and communication.
Department Required Skills
Innovative problem solving and collaboration.
Preferred Skills
Photography, food photography and styling experience.
Mailchimp or equivalent email marketing system.
Wrike or similar project management system.
Print and signage standards and materials.
