A K-12 educational institution in Shreveport, LA is seeking a qualified educator specializing in teaching students with visual impairments. This contract position offers the opportunity to work directly with visually impaired students, providing tailored instruction and support to enhance their learning experience. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students. Adapt curriculum and materials to meet the needs of learners with visual impairments. Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure effective instructional strategies. Utilize specialized teaching methods and assistive technologies to promote independence and academic progress. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Qualifications: Certification in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairment or equivalent credentials. Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments. Strong understanding of Braille, Orientation and Mobility (O&M), and assistive technology. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
