Diesel Technician / Mechanic II

What’s the Job? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on the newest and best‑maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.
Shift Tuesday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM and Saturday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Main Responsibilities
Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
Performing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision in a timely manner
Repairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
Keeping the work area clean and safe
Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training
Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications
3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
Experienced using tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools)
Valid driver’s license required
Problem‑solving ability
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Team orientation
Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions
Basic computer skills
Compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies
Regular, predictable full attendance
Acceptance of DOT driving requirements and current driver qualification file maintenance
Willingness to travel as necessary within the district
Complete background and drug screening requirements
Physical Requirements
Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods
Use hands on a routine basis to grasp, reach, touch, handle, and operate tools or controls
Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
Work in all weather conditions safely
Navigate a work environment with frequent movement of large trucks
Lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly and up to 100 lbs (45 kg) occasionally
