Mortgage Field Services Inspector at FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. FAR Inspections, based in Reno, NV, has been in business for over nine years.
Responsibilities
Complete most common type of inspection in 5‑6 minutes.
Finish inspection within four days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take nine or more photos of the property with brief comments.
Fill out a short form in a mobile app.
Travel extensively within the assigned county, driving and making numerous stops during the day.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, while higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month.
You can earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
