FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to perform inspections. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on general condition using a mobile application.
Responsibilities
Most common inspections take 5‑6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within four days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take nine or more photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Be able to spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good fuel efficiency is a plus as you pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county, urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but work is consistent month to month.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
