About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Underwriting for Commercial Lines. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the underwriting staff, overseeing the regional book of business, and identifying market opportunities through in-depth analysis. This role involves close collaboration with the Chief Underwriting Officer and home office underwriting staff on product and pricing revisions, as well as with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing to manage agency relationships. The VP will also be involved in the development and maintenance of underwriting guidelines, talent management, and will play a key role in the company's annual operating and long-term strategic planning process.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years' progressive work experience in underwriting and underwriting leadership, with a proven track record of success. Multi-line commercial lines experience, including Workers Compensation, is desired, along with experience in profit and loss leadership. The role requires a strategic understanding of the business environment, strong business and financial acumen, and the ability to drive data analytics. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to establish and meet goals, and to lead a team with skills in coaching, mentoring, recruiting, and professional development.
