Overview
Our client is seeking a
Senior Tax Manager
to take ownership of complex client relationships, oversee workflow across the tax function, and play a meaningful role in the firm’s long-term growth and leadership structure.
This is a
true senior leadership seat , not just a title. The right person will act as a primary advisor to business owners, mentor managers and seniors, and help shape how the tax practice operates as the firm scales.
There is a
clear path to partnership
for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a
primary tax advisor
to closely held business owners and high-net-worth clients
Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, ensuring quality, timeliness, and strong realization
Oversee workflow, delegation, and review across the tax team
Provide value-added tax planning and practical solutions for clients
Review and sign returns; ensure technical excellence and QC compliance
Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff through ongoing coaching and feedback
Collaborate with partners on practice strategy, growth initiatives, and potential acquisitions
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, systems, and engagement execution
Contribute to business development efforts and referral relationships (preferred, not quota-driven)
Leverage firm investments in technology, offshore resources, and automation to scale effectively
Client & Technical Focus
Heavy
pass-through work
(S-Corps, LLCs, closely held businesses)
Small to mid-sized business owners as core client base
Trust & estate experience is a
plus
Exposure to wealth management–adjacent planning
What They’re Looking For
6–10+ years of experience in public accounting
Active CPA license required
Strong background in pass-through taxation
Experience managing complex engagements and client relationships
Comfort reviewing and signing returns
Leadership mindset with interest in mentoring and firm development
Business development skills or willingness to participate
Work Model
Hybrid
(Newport Beach or Glendale, CA)
Flexible structure with in-office collaboration balanced by autonomy
