The Employee Relations Consultant is responsible for the day-to day administration of the Employee Relations program and maintaining compliance with DHHS guidelines relative to all areas of ER, performance management, ADA accommodation requests, and unemployment issues.
This position requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to handle difficult situations. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
-Administer and communicate the grievance and disciplinary policies and procedures while applying relevant state and federal laws, regulations, and department directives for employees.
- Collaborate with DHHS Employee Relations leadership regarding potential dismissals, demotions, suspensions or other sensitive ER issues; process grievances, advising management and employees on the appeals process, coaching managers for hearings, and providing expert testimony in hearing and court cases when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with management in conducting investigations relating to employee complaints and employee grievances.
- Review disciplinary action documentation, review investigation outcomes to identify problems and assist management with planning corrective actions.
- Provide consultation and guidance for the division’s ADA accommodation process.
