Description

We are seeking a flexible, highly capable nonprofit leader to direct the internal operations of our growing Development and Community Relations team. This is a senior-level role for a proven professional who understands both strategy and execution, can carry a personal workload, and strengthen systems while leading a team to excellence.

Working closely with the Vice President of Development and Community Relations, this position oversees the internal fundraising, marketing, and community relations functions that drive the success of our annual fund, currently $5.3 million, stewardship, and other key initiatives. The Director ensures the operational strength, structure, and accountability necessary to sustain and grow the mission of Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families.

This role oversees the full operational side of development, ensuring strong systems, clear messaging, and disciplined execution that support annual fund growth and ministry expansion.

What You Will Do:

Superve internal development staff and improving departmental processes
Oversee donor database management and reporting (Raiser's Edge experience preferred), strengthening workflows, and ensuring excellence in gift processing, acknowledgments, and compliance
Manage direct mail and email campaigns, including annual fund appeals
Produce quarterly newsletters, brochures, and printed materials while coordinating vendors and timelines
Manage website content and social media strategy for the ministry and related entities, including Mountain Home Thrift Store and Thirteen Pennies Express Café
Lead ministry and donor events, campus tours, and community engagement efforts
Providing communications and marketing support to broader ministry initiatives, including foster family recruitment
This position ensures the infrastructure, messaging, and operational excellence necessary for sustained revenue growth and strong community engagement

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required
Minimum five years of professional fundraising experience, including supervisory responsibility
Strong knowledge of donor database management (Raiser's Edge preferred) and IRS guidelines for gift processing, receipting, tracking, and reporting
Demonstrated experience managing fundraising operations and workflows
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet firm deadlines
Schedule flexibility, including occasional evenings and weekends, representing the ministry in the community
